Fortis turbines survive storm "Xynthia" in France

Fortis turbines survive storm "Xynthia" in France.

February 27 th, 2010,

Storm„Xynthia“, which raged over France previous weekend, was the strongest  since the Christmas storms of 1999. The wind along the coast reached wind speeds of 160 km / h, especially Brittany and the coast between Bordeaux and Nantes. In the interior and in the densely populated region around Paris are measured wind speeds of 120 to over 130 km / hour. The waves reached a height of 8 meter.

Despite all the bad news for the residents of these areas, it was for Fortis Wind Energy a severe test  for their ca. 20 wind turbines placed in that regions. Where several wind turbines crashed, overheated or lost  rotor blades, Fortis Wind Energy received the message from our France Agent that none of our installed turbines where damaged.

For Fortis Wind Energy the proof of what we already know... over 25 years experience  makes Fortis Wind Energy a very reliable partner considering all weather conditions!
