The 28th of february in Ambolobozokely a windenergy based (2 x 10 kW) village electrification «switched on». The 14th of march the installations in the «zero-emission-village» Ivovona started with the test-period with 10 kW windenergy and 1,7 kW photovoltaic (5 kW wind are following). In the early april Ambolobozobe, where final installations are underway, the third fisher village at the northern tip of Madagascar will be electrified – three rural electrifications within less than two months!
The first stage in a 15-village-program of Mad’Eole is achieved. With the pilot village Sahasifotra more than 5000 children, women and men receive now for the first time in theire lives electricity 24 hours a day. A future with perspectives begins.
Donations mainly from Switzerland – but also coming from Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Monaco – and additional financial support from malagasy Agence de Développement de l’Electrification Rurale ADER helped to cover the main money-gap caused by global financial and economic crisis.
On behalf of the villagers in the first four windvillages – from now all are contractees – Mad’Eole thanks to all private and institutional donators who participated with theire money to the succes. They are a part of a – until today – unique project which now serves as a model for others – in particular in Africa.
This short-information, some few visual impressions attached, is an actual flash at the return of the project leader to Switzerland. The complete Newsletter with pictures and stories will be distributed in april. Together with a short description of the next step in the 15-village-program and with some ideas for further support …
