Advantages of Wind Energy

Wind energy is among the cleanest forms of energy. And small scale wind fits in the strategy of decentral electricity production.

Because wind is a sustainable source of energy, wind turbines produce the cleanest form of electricity. Not only the source is renewable, also the ‘energy payback period’ of the wind turbine is very short. Depending on the type of model this payback period is about 6 years.

Using your own Fortis wind turbine will make you independent of the rising oil prices. The higher the oil price, the bigger your smile.

Many of our clients like to be self-supporting in their electricity needs. Once the turbine is up, they keep on enjoying the looks of it, as they can see that it is working for them. Seeing, but not hearing, as our turbines are whisper quiet. Or, as one of our customers says “even the sound of the wind through the trees makes more noise then my Montana”.

Nevertheless we get the question about the visual impact and the effect on birds. We have never heard of a bird flying into one of our turbines, we have even seen once that just after erecting a turbine a bird came flying by on its usual route (we suppose), shocked because of the obstacle and flew around it.

The only story we now of was in Greece, where a monastery put up a Montana which killed their bees. From the university we understood that the white blades acted as a red flag on a bull. And after repainting the blades no more dead bees where found.

Visual impact is very limited with small turbines. As Fortis turbines are placed on a pole of average 15 meter high, many people do not see them even if they pass them daily.
